Grand Prize for the novel of the French Academy: the ten in the running

The commission for the Grand Prix du roman of the French Academy established, on Thursday September 26, 2024, its first selection, with a view to the awarding of the Grand Prix du roman, which will be awarded on Thursday October 24. Following its tradition, the Company does not indicate the publishing house, a mention which we have added below.

She selected the following titles:

2. The Dream of the Jaguar, by Miguel Bonnefoy (Shore)
3. Last on the list, by Grégory Cingal (Grasset)
4. Houris, by Kamel Daoud (Gallimard)
5. Jacaranda, by Gaël Faye (Grasset)
6. Badjens, by Delphine Minoui (Seuil)
7. Heart, by Thibault de Montaigu (Albin Michel)
8. « You are the Führer’s unhappy love », by Jean-Noël Orengo (Grasset)
9. Hut, by Abel Quentin (The Observatory)
10. The Bastion of Tears, by Abdellah Taïa (Julliard)

Note that of the ten authors in the running, four are also in the race for Goncourt and Renaudot: Kamel Daoud, Gaël Faye, Thibault de Montaigu and Jean-Noël Orengo. Abdellah Taïa is in the running for Goncourt. Abel Quentin and Miguel Bonnefoy appear on the first Renaudot list. The French Academy will open the fall grand prix ball on Thursday October 24.
