Actress Maggie Smith has died

British actress Maggie Smith has died at the age of 89, British public radio reports, among others BBC and news agency AFP. His family members informed about the death.

Smith died at the hospital surrounded by his family early Friday morning, according to his family.

The beloved actor’s death prompted his admirers to leave messages on social media. Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called Smith an icon of both stage and screen.

His career for the first ten years Smith worked mainly in the theater. The breakthrough came in 1969 in the movie Miss Jean Brodie’s Best Years, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress.

In his older age, Smith achieved international fame, especially telling stories about British aristocrats Downton Abbey -television series and Harry Potter with the movies. She herself has said that the role of Professor Minerva McGarmiwa was suitable for her because the character was like Jean Brodie with a witch’s hat on.
