Sophia Loren, the 90th birthday party at Palazzo Naiadi which dedicates a suite to her

A party with almost 200 guests, a 9-tier cake and Laura Pausini as the voice to surprisingly sing “happy birthday to you”. The one celebrated by Sophia Loren in Rome (on the terrace with breathtaking views of Anantara Palazzo Naiadi which for the occasion also dedicated the “Sophia Loren Suite” to the diva, the first and only suite in the world dedicated to the actress) was a birthday to remember. Alongside the diva were her lifelong friends Ferzan Ozpetek and Aurelio De Laurentis; from Alessandra Mussolini to Christian De Sica with his wife Silvia Verdone; from Al Bano to Gigi D’Alessio; from Mara Venier to Giancarlo Giammetti and many others, up to the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, Zubin Mehta, Trudie Styler and Laura Pausini who arrived by surprise singing “Io Sì”, soundtrack of “La vita ante se”, film 2020 drama by Edoardo Ponti in which Sophia Loren starred, winning the David di Donatello as best leading actress.

For the seated dinner, signed by the Executive Chef of the hotel Heros De Agostinis, the 16 tables were named with the titles of the films that made Loren famous, from “A particular day” to “La ciociara”, passing through “ Sunflowers”, “The Gold of Naples” and “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”. There were instead nine tiers of the dessert, one meter and thirty centimeters high, prepared by the hotel’s Pastry Chef Daniele De Santi who completed the final touches right in front of the birthday girl. Made with cream, sponge cake and chocolate with 3 different icings, the cake, which was created inspired by the beauty of the actress, used her favorite ingredients at the suggestion of her son Edoardo and was decorated with white chocolate roses, the Loren’s favorite flowers. The traditional greetings were entrusted to the voice of Laura Pausini who sang “Happy birthday to you” together with almost 200 guests.
