The SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia festival will celebrate its eighth edition from October 4 to 6, with the motto ‘Chapter Zero: Roots’, which returns to the Balearic island of Formentera, in collaboration with the Formentera Island Council.
On this occasion, the event previews for the first time part of its secret lineup before celebrating by announcing a free double concert open to the residents of the area that will take place this Friday, October 4, starting at 8:30 p.m. in the Plaza de Sant Ferran. Access will be free until capacity is reached. Baiuca, a musical phenomenon from Galicia who fuses the traditional music of his land with avant-garde electronics, and Roosevelt, a German singer and producer considered one of the greatest representatives of the world’s dance scene, will perform there.
Baiuca’s pioneering project has become a cultural and musical phenomenon since its inception: its two albums -‘Solpor’ (2018) and ‘Embruxo’ (2021)-, two EPS -‘Misturas’ (2019) and ‘Paisaxes’ (2020) – and multiple singles are now completed with the album he released last Friday, September 27, ‘Barullo’, which he will present with his hypnotic live performance in Formentera.
For his part, the German performer, composer and producer Marius Lauber, known artistically as Roosevelt, lands on Posidonia with his strong demand for a vintage sound that looks to the future. Their synthpop, funk and retro electronics flow throughout albums such as their self-titled debut (2016), the acclaimed ‘Young Romance’ (2018), the danceable ‘Polydans’ (2021) or their most recent ‘Embrace’ (2023), with which he arrives in Formentera after an unstoppable world tour that has traveled through the United States, Latin America and various European cities.
This event is once again committed to a format far from traditional festivals: secret lineup, only 350 attendees, nature and gastronomy during the first weekend of October. SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia is also the only festival in the world that has achieved TRUE Platinum certification as Zero Waste or Zero Residue by the GBCI (Green Business Certification Inc.) after also achieving zero emissions since 2021.
The event also features the Mediterranean gastronomic proposal curated by Vicky Sevilla, Michelin Star chef. As has been customary since its inception, the festival will collaborate for another year with the Save Posidonia project, which seeks to protect this marine plant and raise awareness about the need to preserve it.
