Paula Ortiz, Isaki Lacuesta and Marcel Barrena will disembark in Los Angeles to promote Spanish cinema

The filmmakers Paula Ortiz, Isaki Lacuesta y Marcel Barrena will participate, from October 25 to 27, in the 30th anniversary of LA Recent Spanish Cinema with the SGAE Foundation to promote Spanish cinema.

The SGAE Foundation has promoted its return to the event in 2023 together with the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), the American Cinematheque and EGEDA USLA Recent Spanish Cinema is a sample of current Spanish production cinema that it offers in the cradle of Hollywood an exhibition space for Spanish audiovisual.

The exhibition will show six exclusive premieres at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles and will feature the three filmmakers mentioned above. The films that will be shown will be ‘The Red Virgin’ by Paula Ortiz; ‘Black butterflies’ by David Baute; ‘House in Flames’ of Dani of the Order; ‘Second prize’ by Isaki Lacuesta; ‘The 47’ by Marcel Barrena, and ‘Volverás’ by Jonás Trueba.

The opening day on October 25 will begin with the premiere in Los Angeles of ‘The Red Virgin’, a film directed by the renowned Spanish film director Paula Ortiz and starring Najwa Nimri. The weekend will feature three screenings of feature films, such as ‘Mariposas Negras’, nominated for two awards at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival, will be shown on the 26th at 1 p.m.; ‘Casa en Flames’, directed by Dani de la Orden; ‘The 47’.

Finally, on Sunday, October 27, ‘Segundo Premio’ will be released, selected by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain to represent the country at the 2025 Oscar Awards and winner of the Best Film award at the 2024 Malaga Festival. and ‘Volverás’, directed by Jonás Trueba, awarded the Best European Film award at the Cannes Festival.
