“A story created from lies”: P. Diddy’s mother comes out of silence to defend her son

P. Diddy’s mother, Janice Smalls Combs, said she was “devastated” and “deeply saddened.” She stepped up to defend her son, accused of rape and sexual assault by 120 new victims, including several minors. The rapper also known under the pseudonyms “Puff Daddy” or “Diddy” is already charged and incarcerated for trafficking for sexual exploitation.

In a press release sent to several media, she acknowledged that he had “made mistakes in the past, like all of us”, without being “the monster they portrayed”. “It’s heartbreaking to see my son being judged not for the truth, but for a story created from lies,” she says.

“My son may not have been completely honest”

P. Diddy’s descent into hell began when his ex, RnB singer Cassie, filed a complaint against him in November 2023, accusing him of rape, sex trafficking and physical violence. “My son may not have been entirely honest about certain things, like when he denied being violent with an ex-girlfriend (in 2016) when hotel CCTV showed otherwise,” writes -She.

The case was ultimately settled out of court, which, according to Janice Smalls Combs, was a disservice to her son. “Sometimes truth and lies become so intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or too complicated to be believed. This is why I think my son’s legal team chose to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit (out of court) instead of contesting (the charges) to the end, which resulted in a ripple effect since the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt. »

“Disgusting allegations”

For the mother of the 54-year-old rapper and businessman, “the fact of not being completely clear on an issue does not mean that (her) son is guilty of the disgusting allegations made against him”. “Many people wrongly convicted and then exonerated have been deprived of their liberty not because they were guilty of the crimes of which they were accused, but because they did not fit the image of what this society considers to be a good person “, she explains. The organization of “Freak Offs” parties is at the heart of the accusations against the rapper.

“It is truly distressing to see the world turn against my son so quickly and easily based on lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or giving him the opportunity to present his side,” concludes the mother of the rapper. He will have the opportunity to plead his case on October 9, the date on which his lawyers will again request his release on bail.
