Hatred and horror lurk everywhere: Ramon Zürcher’s remarkable film drama “The Sparrow in the Chimney” explores the life of a family where you have the feeling that they are playing themselves.

The man with the hatchet then throws the freshly decapitated chicken into the air, where the torso does a few more laps and finally flops lifelessly into the grass. However, not without leaving a trail of blood on the face of a woman who wipes her face and then, with others rushing over, looks unmoved at the animal, which we see again in close-up: headless, still twitching, strangely beautifully filmed.
