Actress Jenna Fischer, seen in “The Office”, reveals she had breast cancer

Taking advantage of breast cancer awareness month, Pink October, Jenna Fischer lifts the veil on the disease she has fought in recent months. “In December (2023), I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer,” she wrote on her Instagram account. The term “triple positive” indicating that three receptors stimulate the growth of cancer cells and stage 1, it was diagnosed at an early stage.

The actress known for her role as Pam in the series “The Office” details the circumstances of her diagnosis. “In October 2023, I posted a photo on Instagram of myself getting ready for my routine mammogram (…). After inconclusive results due to dense breast tissue, my doctor ordered a breast ultrasound, followed by a biopsy.

A call for screening

Jenna Fischer invites her subscribers to be careful and have regular mammograms. “If I had waited six more months, it could have been much worse. The disease could have spread,” she adds.

Breast x-rays are recommended every two years between the ages of 50 and 74, ages when breast risk is highest. Between the two, cancer can appear, hence the importance of consulting a doctor or midwife at least once a year for a clinical examination. The earlier it is detected, the more likely breast cancer is to be cured.
