The VII National Cycle of Cinema and Rural Women offers 600 screenings in 320 municipalities in rural Spain

Starting next Tuesday, October 15, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will celebrate the VII National Cycle of Cinema and Rural Women, with which it will offer 600 screenings in 320 rural municipalities in Spain.

The beginning of the cycle coincides with the commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women and the opening ceremony will take place at the Spanish Film Archive.

Specifically, at this inauguration, which is open to the public, ‘The Little Loves’, by Celia Rico, will be screened and the film’s protagonist, Adriana Ozores, will be present at the event, along with the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Food, Begoña. García, representing the ministry.

In addition to this feature film, the programming includes another 16 and 6 short films that stand out for their relationship with women and their connection with the rural world.

The Ministry assures that they are stories that “reflect diverse female realities in rural environments”, addressing issues such as identity, tradition and the fundamental role of women in the preservation and transformation of their communities.

Other films are ‘Un amor’ by Isabel Coixet; ‘Sica’, by Carla Subirana; ‘O Corno’, by Jaione Camborda; ‘As Neves’, by Sonia Méndez; ‘Path of Luck’, by Jorge Alonso; in addition to the one mentioned.

The cycle is made up of 600 screenings and complementary activities in 320 locations throughout Spain and aims to promote greater awareness about the importance of these territories and the opportunities that can arise through access to culture, according to the ministry.

In addition, between October 17 and 30, the screenings can be seen online in Spain and 11 American countries -Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama and Uruguay- , through the cycle’s official website.

In parallel to the screening of the 23 films offered, this edition includes a program of complementary activities, which includes photographic exhibitions, debates, round tables, concerts, cineforums, tastings of local products, workshops and meetings.
