Sabina pays tribute to himself in ‘A last waltz’, a new song that he will present on the ‘Hello and goodbye’ tour

Joaquin Sabina has paid tribute to himself in his new song, ‘Un ultima vals’, a song that he will present on what will be his last tour, ‘Hello and goodbye’ for which tickets go on sale next Monday, October 21.

When my face doesn’t appear in the newspapers/ Even the bride and groom don’t dance ‘Wedding Nights’ anymore/ When it’s only fashionable if I fall off the stage again/ I’m still going to save one last waltz for you“, sings the artist with his particular raspy voice.

Besides, The premiere of ‘A last waltz’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Fernando León de Aranoa and which begins with the singer smoking alone at the counter of an empty bar. As he sings, the people closest to him appear, such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Leiva, Ricardo Darín, Andrés Calamaro, Ariel Rot, José Tomás, Luis García Montero, Juan Gabriel Vásquez, Alejo Stivel or Jorge Drexler, who sit to share a drink with Sabina.

According to the singer-songwriter’s record company, it tries to be “a tribute to each and every one of the people who are part of his life”, being a toast to friendship and life.

The song has a lot of inventory, farewell, confession. Nothing more cinematic than doing it to a bartender, at that time when the bars are about to close. It is in many films, it refers to the ‘Nighthawks’ in Hopper’s painting, at the end of ‘Fat City’, the John Huston film, in which Stacey Keach desperately searches for an interlocutor on the other side of the bar, whom perhaps then have nothing to say,” explained the video’s director in a statement.

For this unreleased song, Sabina has had the help of her regular collaborators in recent years, Leiva in the musical part and in the arrangements and Benjamín Prado co-writing the lyrics with him.

The production is also the work of Leiva and he has been in charge of performing many of the instrumentsalthough for the occasion he has also had the fingers of Carlos Raya on guitars, César Pop on keyboards and José Bruno, the drummer.
