Even Mickey Mouse celebrates 100 years since the death of Giacomo Puccini. Panini Comics has decided to pay homage to the great composer from Torre del Lago with a special volume that collects comic stories inspired by his works. The new Topolibro, released on October 30th in conjunction with the weekly magazine, presents Disney reinterpretations of Puccini’s masterpieces.

Among its pages, readers will find Scroogebot, an original reinterpretation of the famous Turandot, together with Daisy Duck in the role of the “Maiden of the West” and Donald Duck and little Butterfly, which recall the operas of the same name. In addition to these stories, the volume includes curiosities about the world of music to merge the excellence of opera music with the imagination and humor of the worlds of Mice and Ducks, enriched by the exclusive collaboration with the famous pianist Stefano Bollani, who participated to the screenplay of Donald Duck and the secret of the forgetful tenor.

On the pages of Mickey Mouse, however, the unpublished story “Uncle Scrooge and the Unexpected Opera” appears, in which Giacomo Puccini and his beloved villa in Torre del Lago become protagonists, bringing the Maestro into the universe of Disney characters. To celebrate the release of these two publications, the Simonetta Puccini Foundation of Torre del Lago, in collaboration with Panini Comics, is organizing a special event on 30 October 2024 at the Simonetta Puccini Auditorium, which is located next to Puccini’s villa-museum . A journey between music and comics, with a program of activities for adults and children. For the occasion, reproductions of the comic panels will be exhibited in the anteroom of the Auditorium, offering a fascinating look behind the scenes of the creative process. The small exhibition will then be open to visitors until November 3rd.
