A total of 17 films compete for the Goya for best Ibero-American film in the 39th edition of the awards

A total of 17 Ibero-American stories, one more than last year, from ten directors and eleven directors have been presented by the academies and selection committees of their respective countries to compete to be nominated for the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film in the 39th edition of these awards, as reported this Tuesday by the Film Academy.

Specifically, the institution has detailed that Uruguay has chosen ‘Hold me tight‘, directed by Ana Guevara Pose and Leticia Jorge Romero, while Argentina has chosen ‘The Jockey ‘by Luis Ortega.

Likewise, from the Dominican Republic he competes ‘Aire, Just Breathe’ by Leticia Tonos Paniagua, while the Brazilian bet is ‘Ainda estou aqui (I’m still here)‘, signed by Walter Salles. Furthermore, Ecuador proposes ‘Chuzalongo‘, directed by Diego Ortuño and Panamá brings ‘Wake up mom’by Arianne Benedetti.

‘The Dog Thief’by Vinko Tomicic Salinas, comes from the Bolivian country and ‘The other’s place’directed by Maite Alberdi, travels from Chile.

The options are completed with ‘The flower of Buriti’by João Salaviza and Renée Nader Messora, for Portugal; ‘The Wild Woman’representative of Cuba by Alán González; the Colombian feature film “La suprema”by Felipe Holguín Caro; ‘The last ones’from Paraguay directed by Sebastián Peña Escobar or ‘Memories of a body that burns’by Antonella Sudasassi Furniss, who represents Costa Rica.

Finally, the Venezuelan documentary by Marianela Maldonado will also compete, ‘Children of the breezes’; ‘Rita’, directed by Jayro Bustamante and participating for Guatemala; the mexican ‘Dirty’by Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez; and, from Peru, ‘It Smells’co-directed by Óscar Catacora and Tito Catacora.
