Paddington Bear has officially become a citizen of the United Kingdom. The British icon has received an official passport for the latest film, which will be shown in Dutch cinemas in January 2025.
Rob Silva, co-producer of the third film in the latest series, confirms against Radio Times that the British Home Office issued the passport. In the passport, Paddington, the fictional bear born in Peru, is actually listed as ‘bear’. “You wouldn’t think the Home Office would have a sense of humor,” Silva says.
He previously wrote to the ministry asking if he could get a replica passport for the bear. “They actually gave Paddington an official passport. There is only one of them,” the producer is positively surprised.

In the latest movie, Paddington in Peruthe bear returns to his homeland to visit his Aunt Lucy. Once she arrives at the home for retired bears, Paddington discovers that Lucy has disappeared during a scientific mission. So begins a search for his aunt, with the help of a guitar-playing nun and an adventurous sailor.
