An improvised altar on Barcelona’s Rambla pays tribute to the singer Liam Payne

At the top of Barcelona’s Rambla, next to Plaza Catalunya, an improvised altar has been installed to pay tribute to the former One Direction singer. Liam Payne, tragically deceased on October 16 in Buenos Aires.

Joining a movement that has occurred in many other cities around the world, fans of the British star have deposited in recent days photographs, flowers, candles and posters with farewell messages from the singer, such as ‘We’ll miss you’ or “Love you. Goodbye, Liam”, taking advantage of the base of a monumental lamppost.

During these days it has been possible to see Payne fans approach the ‘altar’ to deposit objects and messages, visibly saddened by the unexpected death of the musician.

The former One Direction singer died on the 16th in Buenos Aires, after falling from the third floor of the hotel where he stayed a, the luxury establishment CasaSur Palermo.

Workers at the establishment confirmed that the singer was out of control moments before his death, causing damage to the furniture in the room, which led them to call emergency services.

Payne formed One Direction in 2010, along with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles, after they appeared individually on the talent show The X Factor.

After becoming one of the most important pop groups in the world With five albums and four world tours, One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Payne, born in the English city of Wolverhampton, released his debut album as soloist in December 2019which included the songs ‘Polaroid’, ‘Familiar’ and ‘Strip That Down’.
