Donald Trump and political symbolism: Now he’s dancing too

Trump’s opponents believed they had finally found a strategy against him: portraying him as “weird.” And what is Trump doing? He moves his arms back and forth rhythmically – to “YMCA”.

If Donald Trump actually wins the presidential election in two weeks, it would also be a victory against his own words. He now talks as if the country is in a civil war against “enemies within” and “vermin,” but that doesn’t seem to do much harm to his supporters. And, surveys suggest, this is not because the broad mass of Republican voters agree with Trump’s radical plans – mass deportations, a dismantling of the separation of powers, a “bloodbath” if the election is “stolen” from him again – but because these people think that he won’t implement what he announces anyway. Because they think he’s just talking.
