‘Let our eyes please!’, a photographic exhibition in Rome celebrates Gigi Proietti

“Your eyes on us, please!” is the title of the exhibition dedicated to Gigi Proietti, unforgettable master of Italian theatre, cinema and television, which will open its doors Wednesday 30 October, at Spazio5 in Rome. Organized by the ‘Identità Fotografie’ association and curated by Maurizio Riccardi and Giovanni Currado, in collaboration with Marco Ravagli and Marco Geppetti,
the exhibition retraces the salient stages of the Roman actor’s extraordinary career, from his beginnings to his latest projects, immortalizing his energy, versatility and his unmistakable spirit.

After the success of the exhibition dedicated to Marcello Mastroianni, this tribute to Proietti presents itself as an exciting visual journey through a selection of iconic and unpublished images, created by important Italian photographers. These professionals were able to capture and convey the artistic and human essence of Gigi Proietti, giving back to the public all his charisma and depth. The exhibition is therefore not only a tribute to the great actor, but also an opportunity to enhance the fundamental role of the photojournalist. Photography emerges here as a powerful storytelling tool, capable of documenting not only the history of cinema and theater, but also capturing the fleeting essence of the world of entertainment. Each shot is a precious testimony of unrepeatable moments, a fragment of life and emotion captured through the lens.

‘Identità Fotografie’, a cultural association committed to the valorisation of photographic archives and the diffusion of image culture, recognizes the importance of photography not only as a means of narrating the present, but also as an indispensable tool for preserving historical memory. The exhibition is proposed as a story in images, capable of conveying all the intensity and expressive strength of Proietti, a master in moving with ease from comic to dramatic roles, conquering entire generations of spectators. The photographers, privileged witnesses of an era, were able to immortalize unrepeatable moments, offering the public the opportunity to relive history through their attentive and profound gaze.

Over 80 shots, taken by 40 professionalstell the story of Proietti’s genius: among these, Enrico Appetito, Gioia Botteghi, Remo Casilli, Tania and Alberto Cristofari, Giovanni Currado, Luciano Del Castillo, Luciano di Bacco, Sebastiano Di Bari, Carlotta Domenici Del Luca, Giacomo Gabrielli, Francesco Garufi, Angelo Genovese, Marcello and Marco Geppetti, Carlo Lannutti, Matteo Losito, Alfredo Marchegiani, Stefano Micozzi, Stefano Montesi, Camilla Morandi, Matteo Nardone, Claudio Onorati, Monica Palermo, Angelo Palma, Marino Paoloni, Claudio Peri, Maurizio Piccirilli, Leonardo Puccini, Marcellino Radogna, Piero and Marco Ravagli, Carlo and Maurizio Riccardi, Assunta Servello, Giancarlo Sirolesi, Stefano Carofei, Francesco Toiati, Filippo Valenti and Massimo Vergari.

The exhibition, also created with the support of Lorenzo Imprescia, Simona Mattei, Carmelo Daniele, Alessandro Poggiani and Filippo Giannitrapani of Quinta Dimensione Aps, offers the public the unique opportunity to rediscover Gigi Proietti’s talent in all its nuances: from irresistible ability to improvise on stage to the mastery with which he gave life to unforgettable characters on the big and small screen. Alongside the most famous shots from the sets and his most important theatrical performances, it will also be possible to admire intimate portraits which tell the most human and private side of an artist capable of touching everyone’s hearts.
