By announcing that the National Culture Plan will be presented between March and April of next year, after President Claudia Sheinbaum announces the National Development Plan, the head of the federal Ministry of Culture (SC), Claudia Curiel de Icaza reported yesterday that together with her team she is working on new internal regulations for the agency, in line with the needs of the new federal administration. to strengthen priority projects.

During the presentation of the new heads of coordination and artistic groups of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal), held at the Palace of Fine Arts, he addressed a wide variety of topics in what was his first public appearance before the media, with open questions.

Among other things, the historian and cultural manager assured that the new National Art Winery, located in the fourth section of the Chapultepec Forest, will come into operation in January, although the previous administration had set this October as a date.

Also, in response to a specific question, he addressed the issue of the controversy raised by the ratification of the anthropologist Diego Prieto as head of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), and justified that There are still many issues that Prieto has to finish, and they will be reviewed, as requested by the president (Claudia Sheinbaum).

Another item that he attended to was the permanence of the headquarters of the SC in Tlaxcala, implemented in the previous six-year term, regarding which he specified that By instructions of the head of the Executive, the relevance of keeping it there is evaluatedand commented that some areas and projects, such as La Colmena, now operate in said state.

At that event, the general director of Inbal, Alejandra de la Paz, considered that it is not the responsibility of the institution she heads to decide to transfer the collection of the Dolores Olmedo Museum, made up of pieces by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, to the recently inaugurated park. of Aztlán amusements, whose director, Sergio Haua, stated a few days ago that the building being built to house this work will be ready in the first half of 2026

It is a collection that is under the protection of a private trust managed by the Bank of Mexico, which is why it is not a collection that corresponds to Inbal nor to the SC.said the official, who explained that said trust has not yet requested support for the transfer of those pieces, but as an institution they are in the best position to do so if the time comes.

Curiel de Icaza presented and gave a brief profile of the new Inbal officials, among whom there is a balance of ages and genders.

The Mixtec poet and pedagogue Nadia López García was appointed to the National Literature Coordination, the youngest of the new officials, at 32 years old; in Dance, Alonso Alarcón Mujica; in Visual Arts, Gerardo Cedillo; in Theater, Luis Mario Moncada; while José María Serralde was appointed to the Music and Opera Department, and Daniel Garza Usabiaga will be director of the National Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts.

Meanwhile, the Argentine Marcelo Lombardero was appointed head of the National Opera Company and the Fine Arts Opera Studio; Cecilia Lugo was confirmed in the Contemporary Dance Production Center, and Aurora Cano in the National Theater Company. Likewise, Haydeé Boetto was confirmed as deputy director of Inbal.
