Enrique Patrón conducts the Verdi and Mozart Requiems at the Ollin Yoliztli

The conductor Enrique Patrón de Rueda makes the Day of the Dead a special celebration for his 45 years of artistic career with the interpretation of Mozart’s Requiem and Verdi’s Requiem in the Silvestre Revueltas room of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center, in front of the Philharmonic of the Arts, from November 1st to 3rd.

Enrique Patrón was part of a relevant moment in the history of Mexican music, which is currently all the rage, as he conducted the orchestra in Juan Gabriel’s concerts at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

I feel very lucky that circumstances have put me on the path to do that great concert, originally Maestro Herrera de la Fuente was going to conduct, he was the head of the National Symphony and I came in as an emergent player. That’s good, because it opened a door for me and put me in a showcase that has been very important for my career. Furthermore, it was very fun and enriching to do those concerts.

Originally from a place that emanates music, he gives his opinion regarding popular music: There is an alienated public with new music, that given by the media, easy music that drives people crazy, stuns and incites drinking, sometimes violence. We are a little at a disadvantage with them.
