The government of Mexico achieved the repatriation of 182 Mesoamerican pieces, heritage of our nation, that were in the possession of an individual in Saint Petersburg, Florida, in the United States, who voluntarily decided to return them.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported yesterday that among the objects recovered there are some fragments of clay figurines almost 2,000 years old and other pieces that are at least 1,600 years old.

The recovery, the Foreign Ministry noted, was achieved thanks to the work of the Mexican consulate in Orlando, Florida.

Among the 182 pieces recovered are creations made in western Mexico, during the Classic Mesoamerican period (100 to 400 AD).the agency headed by Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente detailed on social networks.

It was reported that there are also five fragments of anthropomorphic clay figurines from the Central Altiplano, which date from the Mesoamerican Preclassic period (200 BC to 200 AD).

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that these pieces and fragments They are a valuable legacy of our roots and cultural heritage.

For this reason, he expressed his gratitude to those who contribute to the protection and recovery of Mexico’s cultural heritage.
