An information book about the life of seagulls was found to be in violation of copyright

Journalist-nonfiction writer Riku Cajanderin from the book The world of seagulls copyright infringement has been revealed.

The book is published by Aviador. According to it, four were wrongly combined in the first edition of the book Mirkka Mattheiszenin poem as a whole.

“Instead of the perceptive quotations I promised along with my interview, the book published a poetic text, which was created by joining together four different poems from my work Gull. Notes from an encounter (Puru collective, 2019)”, says Mattheiszen in the press release.

Mattheiszen is a draftsman, writer and graphic artist living in Naantali. He only commented on the issue through a press release.

“In addition, the poems had been modified both in terms of content and layout. A verse had been selected as a title for the whole, which none of my poems have. The resulting text does not correspond to any of my work,” he says.

In the second, corrected edition of the work, Mattheiszen’s part is no longer there. Publisher Vesa Tompurin according to him, it was Mattheiszen’s own wish.

Publisher is very sorry for what happened.

The poet had noticed the mistake himself in July. Tompuri says that the publishing house removed the incorrect edition from the market as soon as they found out about it.

“We immediately reacted to the situation by informing the bookstores and library wholesalers who had already purchased the book, demanding that the incorrect edition be withdrawn immediately from sales and libraries. In the future, we will strive to improve our operations so that something similar does not happen again,” Tompuri states in the press release.

Tompuri also does not comment on the matter separately to HS.

Se is a book about the characteristics and world of seagulls based on both domestic and international research data. The work tells about the impact of climate and sea changes and other human actions on the lives of seagulls.
