Finnish classical music stars received Grammy nominations

Esa-Pekka Salonen is nominated for the American audio industry award in three categories.

Conductors Susanna Mälkki and Esa Pekka Salonen are nominated for next year’s Grammy gala in the United States. Also the deceased Kaija Saariaho Adriana Mater -opera recording has received two nominations.

The nominations for the most prestigious awards in the US recording industry were announced on Friday. The candidates have been selected from recordings published during the past year.

Susanna Mälkin the nomination came in the category of the best orchestral performance of the Helsinki City Orchestra Sibelius-from the recording, where you can hear Karelia series and works Loving and Lemminkäinen.

Esa-Pekka Salonen is nominated in the same series for the recording of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Igor Stravinsky Tulilinnusta. Salonen is also nominated for the recording of Saariaho’s opera with the San Francisco Orchestra. In addition Adriana Mater -recording is nominated in the category of best contemporary music composition.

Every year The Grammy Awards will be held on February 2nd in Los Angeles.

The light music series received the most nominations Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone.
