Sometimes what visitors do in front of a canvas reveals more about the art than the painting itself. Art can move people. Literally. In front of the pictures by Anouk Lamm Anouk, people do yoga in wide, sweeping movements. This happened last autumn in the Women’s Museum in Wiesbaden. A visit in October 2023. Three floors are sparsely filled with faceless female bodies flowing across large screens, circles of color floating like portals into the unknown. A hypnotic world in white, black and beige – a palette so minimal, it’s as if the colors had been stolen from Hilma af Klint. The emptiness literally sucks you in. The visitor’s voice becomes a whisper, his breathing calm, almost meditative.
