Mission Impossible 8 unveils its explosive trailer with a very fit Tom Cruise

The 62-year-old actor takes on the role of the famous spy Ethan Hunt for the eighth time, who this time must save the world from a dangerous artificial intelligence machine.

Nothing is impossible for Tom Cruise aka Ethan Hunt. And this, even after eight parts. Mission Impossible 8, titled The Final Reckoning and not Dead Reckoning: Part Two as it was originally announced, unveiled its first trailer this Monday, November 11. The film, scheduled for release in mid-2025, is a direct sequel to Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning , released in July 2023.

«Our lives are not defined by just one of our actions. Our lives are the sum of our choices“, warns the trailer. “Everything you’ve been, everything you’ve done, has led us to this», alerts the narrator, while old images from previous films resurface. In this eighth film in the spy franchise, Ethan Hunt must succeed in bringing down for good the dangerous artificial intelligence program called “The Entity», presented in the seventh part, capable of destroying the world. On the program: even more actions and stunts performed by the 62-year-old American actor. And of course, the famous musical theme composed by Lalo Schifrin is still present.

Mission Impossible 8 promises to take us into the air, as shown by the numerous aviation shots, but also into the underwater depths, where Ethan Hunt will still have to fight if he wants to stay alive. And this part will perhaps even pass through Paris, Tom Cruise having been seen near the Arc de Triomphe in April, where he was filming stunts. Signed by Christopher McQuarrie, who worked on the four previous parts, this eighth film features certain actors seen in the previous opuses, such as Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett and Ving Rhames.

« One last time »

If the hero of Top Gun revealed last year that he wanted to continue touring Mission Impossible « until he was 80 years old », like Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning however seems to be the last opus. In any case, that’s what the end of the trailer suggests. “Trust me. One last time”, we can hear.

Launched in 1996 by Brian De Palma, the saga inspired by the television series of the same name was a great success and grossed more than $3.4 billion worldwide. The sixth opus, Mission Impossible : Fallout, has established itself as the favorite part, having collected more than 790 million dollars worldwide.
