The Teatro Real and the Junta de Andalucía have signed a collaboration agreement for four years through which actions will be carried out to encourage, bring together and promote among citizens everything related to the image and values of Andalusia, especially in the field of education, musical, lyrical, scenic and choreographic activities.
The agreement was signed by the president of the Teatro Real, Gregorio Marañón, and the counselor of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Government of Andalusia, Antonio Sanz, this Tuesday, November 12 in Seville.
In this sense, Gregorio Marañón has highlighted “the links” that unite the Junta de Andalucía and the Teatro Real since 2016, when both institutions signed their first collaboration agreement. Since then, he has assured, Real’s relationship with Andalusia has not been limited solely to the framework of the agreement.
“There has always been an active program of co-productions with the Teatro de la Maestranza – which presented ‘Je suis narcissiste’ last year, for example, and which in 2027 will offer the co-production of the two Teatros de Rigoletto -. Also the children’s opera ‘ ‘Cinderella’ ended up in Seville and Córdoba, like so many other works included in the children’s and youth programming of our theater,” he explained.
For his part, Sanz has stated that this protocol with Real is “very positive” for Andalusia and has explained that this collaboration agreement will allow the dissemination of cultural and social activities such as operas and performances in spaces and facilities in Andalusia, as well as the promotion of concerts and outdoor shows in the geographical itinerary determined in the Andalusian municipalities.
On the other hand, it will open the possibility of broadcasting operas and other activities carried out by the Teatro Real in cultural centers, centers of the public hospital network, senior centers and day centers in Andalusia on dates determined by common agreement.
Furthermore, Sanz has highlighted that “education and childhood will also have their place in this agreement”, since the protocol will make it possible for Andalusian schools to participate in opera activities for primary and compulsory secondary education students, as well as carrying out joint actions for the inclusion of disadvantaged children and adolescents using artistic and musical teachings.
