Israel and culture: Where should this boycott logic lead?

6,000 international and some very successful writers want to boycott Israeli cultural institutions because they accuse them of complicity in the Gaza war. Shouldn’t American universities and publishers soon also be affected?

News from the cultural BDS front, i.e. the attempt to discredit Israel through a boycott and declare it a pariah state: The American Literature Blog The Literary Hub announces, in a slightly triumphant tone, “the largest cultural boycott commitment ever made by the global literary community to the Israeli cultural sector.” According to the well-connected online magazine, more than 6,000 writers have now declared that they will no longer work with “Israeli cultural institutions” that do not explicitly side with the Palestinians.
