The representative of Spain in Junior Eurovision 2024, Chloe DelaRosa, will sing her ‘Como la Lola’ in tenth position in the children’s contest that, for the first time in history, is hosted by the Caja Mágica in Madrid this Saturday, November 16. Italy will open the gala that will close Malta.
On previous occasions, the Spanish delegation has performed in 9th place (2003), 15th (2004), 15th (2005), 6th (2006), 5th (2019), 10th (2020), 16th (2021), 11th (2022 ) and 01st (2023). This is the second time that Spain performs in tenth position, after Soleá did so four years ago. The Sevillian achieved third place with ‘Palante’, receiving a total of 133 points, 60 from the professional jury and 73 from the televoting.
The XXII edition of the contest will begin with a performance by Italy with Simone Grande, followed by Estonia with Annabelle Ats; Albania with Nikol Çabeli; Armenia with Leo; Cyprus with Maria Pissarides; France with Titouan; North Macedonia with Anna & Aleksej; Poland with Dominik Arim; Georgia with Andria Putkaradze; Spain with Chloe DelaRosa; Germany with Bjarne; Netherlands with Stay Tuned; San Marino with Idols SM; Ukraine with Artem Kotenko; Portugal with Victoria Nicole; Ireland with Enya Cox Dempsey; and Malta with Ramires Sciberras.
DelaRosa, the host of the children’s contest, will compete with ‘Como la Lola’, where she conveys how much she likes being a “singer.” The expression is a mixture of “singer” and “artist” and is part of the song’s own lyrics. In its chorus it refers to women artists that Chloe admires: Taylor Swift, Karol G, Rosalía, Olivia Rodrigo, Shakira and with Lola Flores as the protagonist throughout the song.
She was chosen among a hundred candidates to represent Spain in Junior Eurovision 2024. “I have been waiting until I was 9 years old to be able to present myself. I really like Spain, its art, its people, its culture, its food and also, we have the best soccer team. For me it is a dream to represent my country on that big stage,” said the little girl at the press conference.
Chloe, 9 years old, will be the tenth representative of Spain in the musical competition, with the aim of achieving the second victory for the country. Until now, only María Isabel, with her song ‘Better dead than simple’, has managed to win the trophy 20 years ago in Lillehammer, Norway. Spain has achieved three second places in 2003, 2005 and last year, in 2023, with Sandra Valero and her ‘Loviu’, as well as two third places in 2019 and 2020.
The final of the children’s contest will be presented by Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani and will feature comments from the DJ and radio host, Tony Aguilar and the TVE presenter, Julia Varela. ‘Let’s Bloom’ is the motto chosen for this edition organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Spanish Radio Television (RTVE), which is broadcast again on Saturday after being held on Sunday for eight years.
