The PSOE has registered in the Congress of Deputies a non-legal proposal urging the Government to recognize the ‘Eutopia’ festival, which is held in Córdoba, as “a reference in the field of youth artistic creation” after the cancellation of the same and thus, it becomes managed by public administrations.
In the text, to which Europa Press has had access, the socialist formation asks that “pertinent actions” be carried out to “recover” cultural spaces in a way that deepens the idea that culture must be “accessible.” ” and an “essential element” in the social makeup of Spain.
“During all the years in which it has been running, ‘Eutopia’ has adapted to the vicissitudes of all kinds that have affected it, but currently it is facing cancellation and, therefore, with the loss of that very special characteristic to unite different perspectives and artistic specialties. All of this to give way to a format that will only focus on music and that has been awarded to a private company. This is a cultural loss not only for Córdoba, but for our country as a whole. for the reach that this festival has achieved throughout all its editions and after having managed to consolidate itself as a reference”, adds the PSOE.
The festival, which has been held for a total of eighteen editions until 2023, is part of what is known as the Cordoban Cultural Autumn and its main characteristic has been to host different disciplines.
For example, ‘Eutopia’ has welcomed artists such as Dominique A, Chambao, Andrés Calamaro, Julieta Venegas, Vetusta Maria, Los Planetas, Izal or Foreign Beggars, in the musical field, but also filmmakers such as David Trueba, Pablo Berger and Fernando León from Aranoa, journalists like lñaki Gabilondo and Angels Barceló, chefs like Juan Mari Arzak and writers like Arcadi Espada and Elena Medel.
Precisely, the PSOE qualifies this combination of different cultural and artistic disciplines as “one of the successes of the festival.”
