Russian dancer Vladimir Shklyarov dies at 39

The Russian dancer Vladimir Shklyarov has died prematurely at the age of 39, as announced by the Mariinsky Theatre where he was the principal dancer since 2011.

According to the Russian media ‘Fontanka’, Shklyarov died after falling from the fifth floor last Saturday. “Vladimir Shklyarov suffered a back injury and a complex spinal operation was scheduled for Monday, November 18. Shklyarov joined the Mariinsky company in 2003 after graduating from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
