“Our twenty for Potsdam”: crowdfunding for local projects

The Potsdam municipal utilities are ushering in a new round of their “Our Twenty for Potsdam” campaign. From November 20th to December 10th, 22 projects from the areas of sport, education, social affairs and culture can receive financial support on the potsdam-crowd.de platform. The aim of the campaign is to promote voluntary work in the city and to enable broad social participation.

The motto of the campaign is “Achieve more together”. In order to support the projects, Stadtwerke Potsdam helps donors: For every donation of 10 euros or more, there is a bonus of 20 euros from a total funding pot of 20,000 euros. “Crowdfunding is a very transparent process: the projects that find acceptance in society prevail at the end of the day,” explains Göran Böhm, head of corporate communications at Stadtwerke Potsdam.

145 projects successfully implemented

This year, 22 projects are taking part with a total amount of over 60,000 euros. The spectrum ranges from initiatives such as a barefoot path for a daycare center to the purchase of new club equipment to cultural projects such as the Helmholtz Musical in 2026. “For us, this campaign is a reflection of how much volunteering and commitment there is in Potsdam.” said Böhm.

Since the platform was launched in 2018, 145 projects have been successfully completed. Almost 650,000 euros in support money were raised. “The Potsdam Crowd is one of the most successful municipal crowdfunding platforms in Germany,” explains Böhm. It also enables a digital and simple donation process in which every cent goes directly to the projects. Those interested can support them with amounts of their choice.
