The Planeta publishing house publishes an unpublished novel in Spanish and an illustrated biography of Jules Verne

The Planeta publishing house publishes the unpublished novel ‘A priest in 1835’ and one Illustrated biography of the French poet and playwright Jules Verne on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the author’s death which will take place in 2025.

Precisely, ‘A Priest in 1835’ is the first novel written by Verne at the age of 18, unpublished in Spanish and published in French in 1992, which has a plot similar to a Gothic novel in which several sinister characters and their stories from the past orbit.

Thus, this work provides a “unique” vision of the beginning of Verne’s literary career, showing his first narrative explorations and his “emerging talent”, which complements and enriches the writer’s legacy, as noted by the publisher in a statement collected by Europa Press.

On the other hand, ‘Jules Verne. An extraordinary journey’ is a large-format illustrated biography, which offers a detailed vision of the life of this universal author, from his family environment in Nantes to his impact on literature and culture, in addition to analyzing his historical context, his personal influences, and his interest in scientific and technological advances.

In addition, it details other topics, such as his travels, his collaboration with the editor Hetzel, and his forays into poetry, theater and art criticism. It also explores lesser-known aspects of Verne, such as his favorite readings and personal journeys, highlighting his legacy as a visionary beyond science fiction.
