Finnish Linda Bondestam received the prestigious August prize for children’s and youth literature

Finnish writer Linda Bondestam has defeated the respected Swede August award with his work in the children’s and youth literature series Hopi Hopi: The story of a brisk robot. In Swedish, the book is called Chop Chop: En Tapper jordbos berättelse.

Bondestam has been nominated for the award four times.

According to the award council, Bondestam’s dystopian robot epic is a masterpiece with both humor and social criticism.

The last time a Finnish author won the August prize was in 2022.
