TV series|Pamela Hayden voiced The Simpsons since its inception.
1989 classic animation series that started in The Simpsons voice actor of familiar characters Pamela Hayden retired on Sunday, November 24, says Variety.
Probably the most famous character voiced by Hayden is Bart Simpson’s best friend Milhouse.
Milhouse’s familiar voice was heard for the last time for new episodes on Sunday night’s episode of US television Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes.
Hayden has been the voice actor of the series for the entire animation’s existence, 35 years.
“How many actors can say they’ve worked on the same show for 35 years straight?” Hayden told Variety.
“It’s incredible already. However, it is time for me to devote my time to my other creative endeavors, such as filmmaking. It was a difficult decision, but I feel like it was the right one,” he continued.
Hayden also voiced Jimbo Jones, the school bully, Rod Flanders, the Simpson family’s neighbor, Police Chief Wiggum’s wife Sarah, and Janey Powell, Lisa Simpson’s friend, in The Simpsons.
“This is a unique work in a unique series. But as an actor, I’m used to taking risks. That’s who I am. I don’t want to play it safe and I wanted to do other things,” Hayden explained his decision.
A documentary about Hayden was just published about him Jailhouse to Milhousewhich tells his personal story. According to Variety, the documentary made it to the festival tour.
