The Lazio Region presented this morning, at WeGil, the extraordinary opening program of the historic homes of Lazio, an initiative that will allow citizens and tourists to immerse themselves free of charge in the beauty and history of the places that have marked the culture and identity of our region.
On Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December and then again on the weekend of 14 and 15 December, 83 historic homes in Lazio will open their doors to citizens, families, students and tourists. A unique opportunity to learn about and discover the charm of a cultural heritage that ranges from castles, villas, noble palaces, parks, archaeological sites and gardens of historical and architectural importance.
The extraordinary opening includes some of the most fascinating structures in Lazio and assets recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as Villa Adriana and Villa D’Este, but also numerous lesser-known “jewels” of our territory, normally inaccessible to the public.
The regional network of residences has recently been enriched with the Palazzo Mazzenga of Alvito and the Monacato of Villa Eucheria and Criptoportico of Castrocielo, both in the province of Frosinone, and with the Palazzo Comunale of Vetralla, in the province of Viterbo. The total number of homes registered in the Lazio regional network thus rises to 202, including public and private sites.
All useful information on the Network of historic homes in Lazio is available on the website www.retedimorestorichelazio.it.
In view of the upcoming days of extraordinary openings of historic homes to the public, the Lazio Region and Lazio Innova are launching a competition for the best Christmas display. The winner will receive a prize of 5 thousand euros to invest in the home.
The proposed installation must represent the historical, cultural and artistic tradition of the territory, in the sign of the character of continuity across generations, of which the Network of Historic Houses is in turn an expression. The atmosphere, originality, message, use of materials and artisan techniques will be rewarded. The prize must be used for interventions to improve the image and usability of the residence.
“In addition to the extraordinary opening on two weekends, this year we have introduced something new for those who manage historic homes in Lazio, both public and private, with the possibility of being accredited to the network throughout the calendar year It is a network system that is constantly strengthened and growing, offering visitors the opportunity to discover new destinations at each edition, and which also represents a great opportunity for the economic development of local communities, an engine of cultural, social and economic growth. economic for our entire region”, he explained the councilor for Culture, Equal Opportunities, Youth and Family Policies, and the Civil Service of the Lazio Region, Simona Renata Baldassarre.
