The brilliant sci-fi series develops an alternative history of space flights

The TV series For All Mankind imagines what could have happened if Soviet boots had hit the Moon chamber first.

What if Would the Soviet Union have landed a man on the moon before the United States? This is the starting point For All Mankind – series, and it creates a fascinating butterfly effect.

Series creator Ronald D. Mooren by the idea came from the head of the Soviet space program Sergei Koroljovistawho died in 1966. But what if he hadn’t died but had been able to continue his work?

The term butterfly effect refers to the fact that even a small event can have large consequences. Of course, by human standards, spaceflight is a greater effort than a butterfly’s wingspan, although on the scale of the universe, the size difference is probably not as significant.

Human of course, this series is all about the yardstick, although at the same time the alternative history turns to ever hotter rounds.

The combination of these results in sci-fi that stirs the imagination, the credibility of which is slightly compromised by that very human standard: the characters who perceive themselves as special individuals get to screw around selfishly in ways that are hardly allowed in real-life NASA.

It is interesting to think about the causes and consequences of history.

As a spectator it is interesting to think about the causes and consequences of history as we know it. As a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union and the United States will focus their arms race even more strongly on space. The Soviet Union will not go to war in Afghanistan – nor will it disintegrate in the early 1990s. In its wake, North Korea is developing its own space program.

In the United States, the Democrats About Ted Kennedy becomes in 1972 the president of the Republicans Richard Nixon in exchange for. The development of space technology also benefits consumer goods. Nasa becomes prosperous, and a private space industry is created alongside it.

For All Mankind was one of the initial bets on Apple TV+ in November 2019. A lot of expectations have been loaded into it, which is reflected in the high quality throughout. For producing the fifth season was announced in the spring of 2024.

Each new season takes place about ten years after the previous one, and in the fourth season we have already reached the 21st century. In total, the creators of the series are planned about seven seasons as a whole, which would bring the events to the present day and beyond.
