Alpe d’Huez Cinema Festival: here are the first films which will be in competition

This is the first unmissable meeting place for film lovers. And particularly those who like French comedies. The 28th Alpe d’Huez Film Festival will take place from January 13 to 19, 2025 where, between two runs, skiers and spectators will be able to discover some of the French feature films which should bring good humor to the theaters dark by spring.

It is here, for example, that great successes were screened for the first time in public such as “Les Petites Victoires”, one of the last films shot by Michel Blanc, “La Cage Dorée”, a little gem with Chantal Lauby released in 2013 or even in 1997, a short feature film which would become a phenomenon: “the Truth if I lie”.

The new Tuche opus in preview

Like every year, ten productions presented in preview will warm up the atmosphere in this winter sports resort. They will be decided by a jury chaired by the actress Elsa Zylberstein and composed of the director and actor Gustave Kervern, the singer and actor Tom Leeb, the director and screenwriter Noémie Saglio, the singer and actress Izia Higelin and the director Ken Scott.

And the festival will begin with a bang for the 5th part of Les Tuche, « God Save the Tuche » which will be released in theaters on February 5, 2025. The event has already announced that the animated film “Paddington in Peru”dubbed into French by Guillaume Gallienne and “By bike” by Mathias Mlekuz with Philippe Rebbot will be screened out of competition.

This year, the festival is focusing on “all kinds of comedies”: romantic family, detective, but also author or action comedies. This Friday, he announces eight of the ten films in competition. Among them, we will closely follow the new Michel Leclerc. The author of “The Name of People” and “Class Struggle” returns with “The Mixture of Genres”a police comedy in a feminist collective which will bring together Léa Drucker, Melha Bedia and Benjamin Lavernhe.

First five films in competition

Movie buffs also expect a lot from “Rules of the art”, new production by screenwriter Dominique Baumard, to whom we owe the stories of “The Young Imam” and “The Third War”. This time he stages the real theft of masterpieces from the Museum of Modern Art in Paris in 2010 with Melvil Poupaud and Sofiane Zermani. Also unusual, “the Responder”, by Fabienne Godet where an impersonator takes on the voice of a writer to answer the telephone for him. Salif Cissé, Denys Podalydès and Aure Atika play the main roles.

Alpe d’Huez is also betting on several first films: “With or without children” which takes place during a wedding with Bertrand Usclat and Rayana Bensetti, “Love is overrated” by Mourad Winter with Hakim Jemili and Laura Felpin, « It’s ira » by Enya Baroux with Hélène Vincent and Pierre Lottin, « Prosper » by Yohann Gloaguen with Jean-Pascal Zadi or even “Better Days” by Elsa Bennett and Hyppolyte Dard with a nice cast bringing together Valérie Bonneton, Michèle Laroque, Sabrina Ouazani and Clovis Cornillac.

More than 20,000 spectators are expected during this event open to the public and whose screenings are free subject to availability.
