Peru recognizes Bullfighting as the country’s cultural heritage

The Commission of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Congress of the Republic of Peru approved with 11 votes in favor, 3 against and 1 abstention, to declare the bullfighting and gallistics as the country’s cultural heritage. This declaration serves to praise bullfighting and cockfighting as cultural manifestations and expressions of Peruvian national multiculturalism, according to Mundotoro.com.

The initiative seeks to safeguard and promote these traditional practices within the framework of the fundamental right of access to culture. Furthermore, the statement suggests that the Ministry of Culture incorporate both cultural manifestations within the patron saint festivities of various cities and communities in the country.
