Luchs Youth Book Prize awarded twice for the first time

The Luchs 2024 youth book prize will be awarded twice this year: the graphic novel “Outline” by Michèle Fischels (Reprodukt Verlag) and the short story collection “Fucking fucking beautifully” by Eva Rottmann (Jacoby & Stuart), as the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit” will be awarded. and Radio Bremen announced.

The prize, worth 8,000 euros, will be awarded on the eve of the book fair on March 26, 2025 in Leipzig.

At the center of the comic story “Outline” are Clara, Ben and Andreas, who live and suffer through their last year of school before graduating from high school – a coming-of-age, a triangle and a coming-out story among adolescents.

Eva Rottmann’s short story collection “Fucking fucking beautiful” could be called a literary educational book, it was said.

“Michèle Fischels and Eva Rottmann both tell stories in a remarkable way for young people and by young people – one in pictures, the other in texts. “Everyone manages in their own way to capture the intensity of this period of life, to take the fears and longings of adolescents seriously without losing the lightness,” said the jury.

Every month “Zeit” and Radio Bremen award a book the Luchs Prize for children’s and youth literature. The annual lynx is chosen from the twelve monthly winners.
