The second part of the comic ‘those’ about the battle of Cartagena de Indias will see the light next Thursday, December 19after managing to raise 120,000 euros in a micro-patronage campaign with the support of 2,777 readers.
The first part of the story, which sold more than 10,000 copies, won the Popular Prize at the Barcelona Comic Fair and was a finalist. for the Best National Comic Award 2020 by the national booksellers association Zona Cómic.
The graphic novel develops a plot that delves into the drama experienced by its protagonists, led by Blas de Lezo and Edward Vernon, two old enemies of great character, without forgetting the personal stories of the inhabitants of the fortified city and the raw experiences of soldiers from both sides.
The comic has been made by the cartoonist Guillermo Mogorrón, the documentary filmmaker Ramón Vega, the scriptwriter Ángel Miranda and the colorist Miguel Ángel Abad. Professionals have turned to original sources to tell the story of the battle. Thus, they have used archival documents, diaries, letters from the protagonists, period canvases, inventories, diaries, etc.
