Rapper Morad is the most listened to Spanish artist in Europe in 2024, according to Spotify

The rapper Morad This 2024 has established itself as one of the most important figures of the year on the music scene and has become the most listened to Spanish in Europe, according to Spotify’s European Wrapped data collected by Europa Press.

The music company highlights Morad as a “reference” in the world of rap, a genre that has marked the sound of Europe, along with electronic music, with the five most prominent European artists belonging to these musical genres.

Thursday David Guetta has positioned himself as the most listened to European artist on the continent in 2024, ahead of Jul (France), Morad, Tiësto (Netherlands) and Oilier (Italia).

Among the most listened to songs by the most listened to European artists in Europe in 2024, the list is topped by the song ‘Too sweet’, by Hozier (Ireland); ‘Overdrive’, by Ofenbach (France); ‘I don’t wanna wait’, by David Guetta; ‘Pedro’, by Jaxomy (Germany); and ‘Thank you (not so bad)’, by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike (Belgium/Greece).

Spotify data also reveals that The most played album in Europe has been ‘Unreal unearth: unheard’ by Hozier, followed by ‘ICON’, by Tony Effe (Italy), ‘DIO LO SA’, by Geolier, ‘All stand together’, by Lost Frequencies (Belgium) and ‘Vera Baddie’, by ANNA (Italy).

Additionally, it has been revealed that Europeans have been supportive of local talent, with a 12.6 per cent increase in streams for European artists this year. Luxembourg has been the fastest growing country, with an increase of 88 percent compared to the previous year.

For its part, The Eurovision Song Contest continued to contribute to cultural export. Spotify users globally have been listening to Eurovision playlists for more than seven million hours.

Likewise, these data show that Spain leads the ranking of RADAR artists – which promotes new European talents – most listened to in the world, with Quevedo in first place; Dwell second; Saiko in third position; and Beny Jr, in fourth place. Fifth position goes to the German Ski Aggu.

When it comes to EQUAL – promoting equality for women – Bad Gyal is the “queen”, being the most listened to Spanish EQUAL artist in the world.
