The three-district corner in Berlin’s City-West

Nürnberger Straße, described by Joseph Roth, sung by David Bowie. At the northern end it forms a three-district corner with Kurfürstenstrasse and Budapester Strasse. Mitte, Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf meet here, opposite Olof-Palme-Platz, whose name only a few know. Just as hardly anyone would know that the water feature on it is called the “Ammonite Fountain”.

Triple edge location in the middle of the city: a place of rear and side entrances, parking garage entrances, to which the historic districts and today’s districts of Schöneberg, Charlottenburg and Tiergarten turn their backs.

The square was once full of culture and nightlife

“Sitting in the jungle, on Nürnberger Straße, a man lost in time, near KaDeWe, just walking the dead.” With the lines from “Where are we now?”, David Bowie recalls a time when this part of the city West was not only a shopping area, but also full of culture and nightlife.
