The Reina Sofía Museum has received a total of 1,960,249 visitors in 2024, compared to 2,530,560 in 2023, although attendance at its main headquarters has increased by 9%.

Specifically, of the final number of visitors, 1,537,105 correspond to the main headquarters, while in the Retiro Park headquarters, the Palacio de Cristal has not received any visitors since it has been closed since April 2023 for restoration works, as reported by the museum.

For its part, the Velázquez Palace, which has also closed its doors for improvement works since September 2, received 319,706 visitors, compared to 536,425 in 2023.

In addition, 62,192 people participated in the activities organized by the Reina Sofía and 41,246 users visited the Library, which represents a considerable increase compared to 2022, which registered a figure of 27,309. Ticket collection has also increased, which has grown more than 15% compared to 2023.

The day of the year with the highest number of visitors was Saturday, May 18, International Museum Day, with 13,089 people, 9,677 at the main headquarters.

“It is a joy to see that, despite the closure of the Retiro palaces for improvement work, the Museum continues to grow, attracting audiences to the permanent collection and its temporary exhibitions. These data are encouraging in the future work that we are already undertaking to improve both the public reception spaces and the tours of the buildings, which will soon make the visit more friendly and attractive for all audiences,” stated the director of the Museum, Manuel Segade, in a statement reported by Europa Press.
