Sober for four years, Maxime Musqua hopes to become a “model” for those who want to quit alcohol

After having consumed alcohol in abundance “every weekend” in a festive setting and having faced depression, the actor and podcaster, who realized that he had a problem with alcohol, made the decision to stop. Three years, ten months and ten days later, he decided to speak out on this taboo subject and about which he deplores a lack of representation of sobriety in France.

“To bring a little joy into this morning” Maxime Musqua wanted to point out that he is proof that you can be happy after having stopped drinking alcohol. “There are not many models of people who have stopped drinking and who are doing well, I am one,” he said into the microphone. “I swear to you my life is going really well now,” he added, while recognizing that the beginnings are not easy.

“I only have people congratulating me”

“You have to learn a little bit, get off your ass at the beginning because indeed… you get pissed off. But for me, it’s been four years and I don’t want to drink again at all. Before I couldn’t imagine my life without alcohol. It wasn’t possible because I was so afraid of getting pissed off,” explains the former columnist for Canal +’s “Petit Journal”.

If he was afraid that people would find him “boring”, particularly because of the social pressure that exists in France on alcohol consumption, he reveals that it was quite the opposite. “I only have people who congratulate me, with whom I have fun… I go to bed a little earlier than the others but I continue to do the things I did before, and my life is really cool,” assures the 37-year-old podcaster, who even specifies that he has written a book, which he had not at all planned for in his life.
