The donkey Perry who inspired the character of Donkey, the chatty friend of the green ogre from the famous saga in Shrek, he died at the age of 30. According to what the American site Palo Alto Online reports, the little donkey Pericles, known as Perry, he died after struggling with a painful hoof disease called laminitis.
The donkey was born in 1994 and lived in Barron Park, Palo Alto, California, from the age of three. In a statement on Instagram, the Barron Park said he was “saddened” by Perry’s death. “He was a beloved member of our community and we know that many people will be touched by his passing. Memorial plans will be announced soon,” the message read.
The first Shrek film was released in 2001 to enormous critical success and winning an Oscar for best animated film. It tells the story of a lonely ogre who befriends a talking donkey named Donkey, known for his humor.
