National Museum: Museum sites planned to be closed can be opened

The Museum Office Seurasaari outdoor museum, Hvitträsk, Langinkoski and Louhisaari, which were closed as a result of the yt negotiations in the fall, will be opened next year. The National Museum of Finland informs about this in its press release.

On December 18, the Parliament granted additional funding, with which the museum sites can be opened.

According to the Parliament’s decision, 1 million euros will be transferred to the Museum Agency in the 2025 budget so that the Seurasaari outdoor museum, Louhisaari manor castle, Hvitträski studio home and Langinkoski’s imperial fishing lodge can be opened for the 2025 season.

In addition, in the third supplementary budget of 2024, an increase of 0.8 million euros was shown for the software production costs of the new part of the National Museum.

“This is a significant decision. The funding ensures our operations for next year, although it does not decide the funding for the coming years. The National Museum of Finland is a nationwide and national cultural actor, and our museum sites have a great regional impact both culturally and economically”, General Director of the National Museum of Finland Elina Anttila says in the announcement.
