Kurt Schwaen (1909-2007) is one of them most famous composers in the GDR. After his death, his wife Ina Iske-Schwaen set herself the task of creating an extensive archive from her husband’s estate in their house in Mahlsdorf, including sound recordings and recordings of performances, which would bring his musical works closer to those interested.
A takeover by the Berlin City Museum, the State Library or the Academy of Arts has not yet taken place. Berlin is missing out on a great cultural treasure.
