The National Youth Orchestra of Spain holds six concerts in January in Pamplona, ​​Burgos, Santander, Zaragoza and Madrid

The National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), a center dependent on INAEM, will hold six concerts in Pamplona, ​​Burgos, Santander, Zaragoza and Madrid during the month of January. Leading the orchestra will be conductor Vasily Petrenko, current music director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and associate conductor of the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra.

The Brazilian popular melodies of the work ‘The Beef on the Roof’by the French composer Darius Milhaud, will open the program followed by the musical impressionism of Maurice Ravel imbued with the ‘Suites nº1 and nº2 of the ballet Daphnis and Chloé’.

The program, featuring European music from the first half of the 20th century, will close with Béla Bartók’s ‘Concert for Orchestra’.

The first concert will take place in Pamplona on January 12 and will be followed by Burgos (January 14), Santander (January 16), Zaragoza (January 17 and 19) and Madrid (January 20).

Among the musicians that make up the JONDE on this concert tour, three of them, from the Orchester Français de Jeunes (OFJ) and the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) will participate as guests through the MusXchange Exchange Program of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO).

These concerts will be held after the celebration in Zaragoza of the first Symphonic Meeting, made up of 100 musicians from the JONDE and twelve teachers from different specialties, in charge of preparing the programming.
