Stradivarius of National Heritage leave the Royal Palace for a concert for Dana on January 20 at the Teatro Real

The ‘Stradivarius por la dana’ charity concert will allocate its proceeds to recovering the cultural fabric affected by the catastrophe

The president of National Heritage, Ana de la Cuerva, and the president of the Teatro Real, Gregorio Marañónthey presented this Wednesday ‘Stradivarius por la dana’he benefit concert in favor of those affected by the damage that will take place on next January 20 at 19:30 at the Royal Theater itself.

During the evening, the Casals Quartet will perform ‘The Art of Fugue’ by Johann Sebastian Bach. This is a “historic” concert, as long as it is about the first time in the 21st century that the National Heritage Stradivarius will leave the Royal Palace. The last time they were outside its walls was in 1997.

Tickets, which range from 20 to 98 euros, are now on sale. In addition, Row 0 has been enabled to make donations. All proceeds will be used to recover the cultural fabric of the areas affected by dana. Mainly, the proceeds will be delivered to the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community.

The Stradivarius are extraordinary instruments that we had to put at the service of an extraordinary cause“De la Cuerva said during the press conference to present the concert.

Both she and the president of the Teatro Real, Gregorio Marañón, have valued the alliance between the two institutions. “Two houses that share history can only collaborate and be together”Marañón highlighted.

The general director of the Teatro Real, Ignacio García-Belenguer, has indicated that, for the moment, they have raised 40,000 euros. Even so, he has encouraged the entire public to buy tickets and, above all, to collaborate in Row 0, the one for donations.

A “VERY SPIRITUAL” WORK FOR THE CASALS QUARTET

The Palatine Quartet, also known as ‘Royal Quartet’ decorated, it is composed of two violins, a viola and a cello that Antonio Stradivarius made for Charles II, although it was finally Charles III who acquired the set for his son, the future Charles IV.

The Casals Quartet is composed of Vera Martinez (violin), Abel Thomas (violin), Cristina Cordero (viola) and Arnau Thomas (cello). At the press conference, Martínez announced that the work they are going to play at the charity concert, ‘The Art of Fugue’ by Johann Sebastian Bach, is “an architectural cathedral”, “especially beautiful” and “very spiritual”.

Finally, the artistic director of the Teatro Real, Joan Matabosch, added that this composition is “a very late work by Bach” and described it as “an exciting exercise in sobriety”, which he explained is what the composer was doing at the end of his life.
