Gennaro Sangiuliano in bookstores with ‘Trump-The Rematch’, the new biography of the tycoon

A few days after the oath and the reinstatement to the White House, it arrives in bookstores for Mondadori, from Friday 10 January, the new edition of Donald Trump’s biography, this time with the subtitle “The revenge”, written by Rai journalist Gennaro Sangiuliano, former minister of cultureauthor of several biographies on the protagonists of international politics. New chapters have been added to the text, already published in 2017, which retrace the period from the events on Capitol Hill to today, narrating Trump’s extraordinary comeback.

When the assault on the Capitol building took place on January 6, 2021, live on global television, sparking a wave of global indignation, no one would have bet a cent on Donald J. Trump’s political future. In those days his fate seemed sealed, not only politically. Then Trump overturned all this: the judicial investigations, the trials, the attacks, the hatred of certain strong powers, the hypocrisies, the movie stars, the mainstream, the American newspapers and the big networks.

Whatever you think, it is the fruit of great tenacity and resilience. Trump achieved a re-election that has only one other precedent in American history: Grover Cleveland who was the twenty-second and twenty-fourth president.”

In his book, Sangiuliano retraces Trump’s entire existential storythe German origins of the family, the emigrant grandfather, the good level of studies, the rise as an entrepreneur.

And try to explain the dynamics of success of Trump: “Trump’s re-election demonstrates, once again, the gap that divides the narrative made by some self-referential elites, those who live in the attics and lofts of American restricted traffic zones, and the common people, those who work and who suffer if the mortgage payment rises and if there is high inflation. It is a phenomenon common to the entire West where small minorities disconnected from real life claim to teach others how to live and what to be and then lose their elections. Trump has regenerated American patriotism that overcomes divisions and affirms community.”

Trump’s new rise has unprecedented features, the new president controls the Senate, by a narrow margin the House of Representatives, and there is a clear call to being a movement (‘Make America Great Again’), not a party in the traditional sense, with the its superstructures, but a movement, a cohesive community around ideals and objectives, active in pursuing them. The new presidency is revealed in the style of the character, will have to be followed and it is good to read up on Trump’s history.
