“I’m addicted to heroin”: Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, revealed on her Instagram page that in the past she struggled with addiction to hard drugs and alcohol. “Hello, I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” Jackson wrote in a post she uploaded to her Instagram page alongside a video that showed the process she went through from end to end.”Today I celebrate five years of sobriety – I don’t use drugs and alcohol,” she declared and explained: “To say I’m grateful would be lame, the words gratitude barely scratch the surface. Thanks to my sobriety I get to smile today, get to create music.

“I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and my cat,” she continued, “I get to feel a broken heart in all its intensity – I get to grieve, laugh, dance, trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I discovered that life keeps happening, Whether I’m sober or not, but today I get a share of them.”

In the video she shared, Jackson revealed moments from her life about which she wrote: “Here’s a little snapshot of what was possible thanks to sobriety – and my God, I can’t believe I almost missed it all, thank you.” So she thanked those who were there by her side: “To those who helped me on this journey, even just at the beginning, in the middle or along the way – I owe you my life, you know who you are and I thank you. Five years, thank God.”

Many praised the 26-year-old singer and actress – and among them you can find Paris Hilton who wrote “I’m so proud of this my sister”. Her aunt, her father’s older sister, also wrote: “Congratulations Paris. I am so proud of you and your growth and achievements.”

Over the years, Jackson spoke openly about her various struggles, which included suicide attempts. In an interview conducted in 2021 for the program “Red Table Talk”, she said: “Many people feel when they try to commit suicide. There were times when I felt that way and times when I didn’t, times when I was upset that it didn’t work.

“But now, a few years later, I can say that I’m really grateful that it didn’t work out,” she continued and concluded, “Things have gotten better.”
