German film industry in crisis: stop complaining!

There are too many films in Germany that are irrelevant, too many average films, and too much longing for more subsidies. The film industry’s crisis is partly its own fault. What the industry needs to do to save itself.

Without extraordinary stories and bold visions, the German film and media industry will become invisible and irrelevant. In addition to their mainstream business, television and streamers invest too little in the creative infrastructure. German cinema is often average and not successful enough. There are bright spots, but it’s not enough to survive.
